What I miss most when I am away

I love traveling and visiting family. I love the time spent with loved ones and the special places you go. I love the food and the change of schedule and scenery. It is uplifting to a mother's heart to witness others enjoying your children almost as much as you do. Vacationing is fun! But, it is also nice to get back home and back to routine.

You know what I think I miss the most when we are away?
I miss our home church. I mean, I love going to other churches and feeling the bond of Christ and observing the differences and similarities in styles. It is heartwarming to be across the world and know that I am worshiping with brothers and sisters. But, I so look forward to that first Sunday back at home! There is a comfort and refreshing that accompanies rejoining our fellowship. I guess that's the idea shared in the verses below from the book of Hebrews. We are to have a home church so that we are not alone in our walk of faith. So that we are closely bonded with others who will encourage us to press on, to walk our talk, to love when it's hard to do so. We are to join a body so we are not afraid to be vulnerable, so that we learn to serve unselfishly, and so we grow healthily. A church is a family; a family who walks with you on your Christian journey. That is what makes the anticipated reunion so exciting.

"And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near." -Hebrews 10:24,25
