and I thought that would be a great topic for tonights chat!
My first question is, What is your favorite thing about Fall?
Maude: Awesome, my favourite season!
Esther: Mine too!
well... I can never really decide between it and Spring
Maude: I just love the temperature dropping
Lizzi: Apple cider!
Maude: Football games
Lizzi: And I always want to go to a high school football game... even though I never do!
Esther: in Spring I think Spring is and In Autumn I think Autumn is
I have been wanting to go to a Football game too!
Lizzi: There's just something about Fall... you just want to go to a game!
I love the bands too!
Lizzi: Those candies that mom always got in the Fall growing up. But I LOVE all pumpkin baked goods!!Alright ladies, what is the first thing that comes to your mind when I say "pumpkin"?
Maude: Jack-o-lanterns
Lizzi: Yeah, apple things. Or pumpkin. haha
sweet or not
Maude: Probably football games growing up. I remember going to our oldest brother's football games and running around and playing. There is something special in the air at night in the fall.
Lizzi: I always loved that too
and I think that our boys would enjoy them now want to make sure we make great piles of leaves.
Lizzi: Yeah, we will be going to our church's harvest party so that the boys can dress up
Esther: you all have such good ones!
Maude: We played tape the face on the pumpkin, drop the candy corn into a mug from on top of a chair, etc.
Lizzi: with fun carnival games!
Esther: that is a great tradition. I also want to bake sweets with my little ones!
Lizzi: Yeah!
Esther: I loved helping Mom
maybe that would help improve my baking too!
Lizzi: Great Fall tradition
Maude: I am even more excited about the fall now!
Maude: Oh, Esther! That is so fun!!
Esther: Do you remember that Maude? we put candles in them and turned off the lights to see what they looked like
Lizzi: Kat and I would always get those blue and white suckers from the concession stand
Esther: (I think mine won!)
Maude: I'm glad one of your favourite memories is something we did together. That whole visit was so special
Esther: it was!
Maude: I had forgotten about those suckers! Those were good.
Esther: Also, last year I was VERY pregnant and me and Andrew carved pumpkins with his family. and trying to get a pumpkin carved with a big ol' belly is not so easy!
Maude: Two years ago I was very pregnant too and carving pumpkins - you're right. It was a bit tricky!
Lizzi: THat's great!
Esther: I have one more question.
Lizzi: ok
Maude: Soups! (Liked your post earlier, Esther!)
Lizzi: And chowders!
yeah
Maude: Beef and Barley soup
with good bread
Lizzi: mmmm
Esther: Apple dumplings sound amazing!
Yes, soup is what I was going to say
I LOVE soups!
Maude: Everytime I make them my dough is too thin around the apple and it dries the apples out
So I should say - Mom's apple dumplings!
Esther: I also want a lot of bready stuff this time of year
Maude: She said I choose apples that are too big.
Esther: and hot beverages
Lizzi: Maybe that's why I'm on a bread-baking kick
Esther: like coffee and tea
Lizzi: Apple cider! Cold or hot
Maude: I had never carved one until two years ago - very fun!
I hate pumpkin pie - but I do like those pumpkin rolls (the cake and icing thing that is rolled up)
Esther: or pumpkin lattes! yummm
Maude: gross
Lizzi: yeah!
not gross... yum!
I love pumpkin flavored anything
Maude: Yuck.
Kind of funny how different we are in some things!
Esther: That brings me to my next question (which may or may not bring some of the same questions)
Esther: That brings me to my next question (which may or may not bring some of the same questions)
what is your favorite thing to eat this time of year?
Maude: I'll be attending a local high school game this Friday even though I don't know anyone playing!
I also love going to festivals in the fall
I love going to festivals anytime but they are much more pleasant when the weather isn't scorching
Esther: I think my favorite thing about Fall is just the amazing crispness in the air. There is little more wonderful than taking a walk and just smelling Fall in the air, ya know?
Maude: The crispness in the air and the crunch under your feet. I love taking walks this time of year too
Esther: Do you and your family have any fallish traditions?
and if not what ones would you like to start?
Lizzi: I would like to start always going to fall festivals. The kind that have hay rides, pumpkin patches, etc
those are fun
Maude: Land o' the Lakes mint hot chocolate
Lizzi: And hot chocolate (even though I drink that frequesntly year-round)
I think I drink hot chocolate (with milk) about twice a week!
Esther: I love that
What is your favorite Autumn memory?
Lizzi: I'm trying to think...
Lizzi: I'm trying to think...
Maude: I'm bad at memory questions...
Esther: Maude, you know what one of mine is?
