As we left the house to go to church on Sunday morning my husband said, "Doesn't it sometimes feel like we are just playing house? It doesn't seem like we should be old enough to have a house and kids yet, does it?"

This is us when we were dating in college (about 11 years ago).
He's right. It feels like we should still be dating. Time flies by so fast - the first ten years of our marriage came and went in a blink. It seems like we should still be living in our lovely, rounded, 3rd floor, first apartment in Morgantown, WV. I loved that apartment with the old double french doors to the iron balcony. We didn't have a bed back then - just an ancient couch that pulled out to a bed that had been removed from an old RV from the 70's. I can't quite imagine going back to life
before I met him but it does feel like we shouldn't be this far along in our marriage quite yet.

This is us just before we had children (about 6 years into our marriage).
Now, here we are, ten years into marriage with a mortgage and two amazing kids. We love our life. Our marriage is great, our kids are wonderful and we are very thankful for our house. But where in the world did those ten years go??!!
I used to think that driving the 2 1/2 hours to our family vacation growing up was interminable. I used to pack a bag of things to do with toys, games, pillows and books (enough for a week's play probably!) for the drive. Time moved so slowly then...

My husband and I yesterday, at 10 years of marriage.
I know ten years is a short time to be musing over and many people reading this may better relate to 20 or 30 years passing by in the blink of an eye. I know that there is nothing I can do to slow down the next ten years (which will be marked by my little boy becoming a teenager and my daughter hitting double digits - oh my!!) but I want to enjoy every moment and try to do memorable things with my family.
Last night after we put my daughter to bed, my husband, Milton and I laid some blankets outside and looked at the stars - it was the perfect night for it with a clear sky and a crisp air. I want to do more of that - more star-gazing, river-wading, snow-crunching and flower-smelling with my loved ones.
