I have a one year old!

At 4am yesterday I awoke to hear my son crying (not nearly as unusual as I would like). I went in and picked him up and immediately was brought back to that day a year before. At 4am on October 11, 2010 I had a brand new baby boy whom I was snuggling with for the very first time.

It was hard to remember back to a time when my son was so tiny.  I will never forget holding my baby for the first time and all the love that washed over me for that sweet, tiny man. Along with the love was this great sense of responsibility.  I was struck in the wee hours of 4am of how little has changed since then.  Of course, I now have a walker, a baby who sleeps a lot less, a baby who tries so hard to talk and communicate (through a lot of babbles) HE has changed so much. Aside from me having changed a lot more diapers, not a whole lot has changed about how I feel about my little boy.  I am still often overwhelmed by the huge responsibility of Motherhood (for such it is) but I am also so blessed by this little being who God has seen fit to give me for this small stint on earth. I am still often struck by the deep love I have for my son.  Holding my (now) one-year-old boy, it seemed like the year melted away and I was once again holding my tiny newborn, all the fresh feelings of Motherhood there deepened by a year of getting to know my son and getting excited to see the child and one day the man he will become.  After getting over the sadness of my baby getting SO big I just got excited for him to be able to do more and that I will be right there beside him seeing it all happen.
                                                                           I am blessed.
