The Responsibilities of Womanhood

I've been thinking a lot about the expectations of Womanhood lately, of all the different things that women are expected to be good at and to take care of.  The list is overwhelming:

cooking
cleaning
baking
gardening
telling bedtime stories
comforting broken hearts
working
volunteering at church, school, and throughout the community
organizing the entire house
accounting
diapering
potty-training
advising/counseling everything from how to respond to a bully to what career path to take
encouraging children and husbands in their endeavors
chauffering to soccer, girl scouts, etc.
teaching everything from ABCs and manners to algebra and discipline
entertaining children
hosting company
shopping for groceries, shoes, clothes, blinds, etc.
scheduling activities/grocery menus

This list is extremely broad.  Each of these categories has zillions of tasks underneath it.  It is no wonder women today are stressed and overwhelmed.  And I know I didn't think of all of our responsibilities - what did I forget?

Perhaps we should all meet at a spa and then go out for ice cream.  Anyone with me?

  1. I am with you! I am always up for spa and ice cream. When can we do this?
