Simplicity

"Remember the simple pleasures in life". I found this on my dark chocolate Dove wrapper today. It was sad that I found a candy wrapper to be such a good reminder, but that is exactly what I needed to hear today. I have been feeling a little over whelmed and rushed; and I really hate feeling rushed! How easy it is to just be caught up in the rush, rush, rush of daily life; what we are all always rushing around doing is beyond me. Oftentimes when I think back upon my day that was so filled of rushing here, there, and everywhere and I take a moment to breath I have no idea why all the rushing was so necessary. I do not want to be that person who is so busy they do not have the time to pull off the side of the road to watch a beautiful sunset or forget that you can actually take the time and walk somewhere rather than drive.
After receiving my little "reminder" in the form of a candy wrapper, I decided that would be motto for the day "Remember the simple things in life." For me, one of the best ways I can do that is by taking a walk. So, I bundled Jude and myself up and out the door we went! Leaving dirty dishes and unmade beds behind; sometimes you have just got to do that. Today I decided to go at a slower pace and take time to enjoy the simple things. I really enjoyed the fresh crisp air as we walked, I enjoyed my beautiful flowers on my table, I enjoyed my sons giggles an attempts to walk around the house. It has really been a lovely day and I feel more relaxed than I have in weeks by just taking time to slow down and enjoy. I was positive when choosing to start my day out this way I would surely get less down then when I am in crazy, run-around mode. But that did not happen at all! I think I have been more productive. I vacuumed, swept, had time for a walk, stories with my little man, AND laundry (I HATE laundry). It was incredible! By just choosing to slow down and enjoy the beauty and time God has given me I was able to get more done, primarily because I was not running around like a chicken with its head cut off. I have found so much of the "rushing, rushing" issue with me only has a little bit to do with my circumstance but has a ton to do with my heart. It is absolutely possible to have a crazy, hectic day and still be able to enjoy the simple blessings God has displayed to all of us it is just a matter of knowing how to see them in all the craziness.
