The Difference Between Boys and Girls

Okay, I am not going to talk about the obvious difference here!!  I just mean the differences any mother of both sexes can tell you.  It is fascinating.

The other day I was vaccuuming after we had finished working on a creative project and there were some sticky foam circles under the table.  I asked Maeva to come over and pick "some things up for me"  she picked up the circles as well as a chunk of cookie that she found on the floor and threw it away.   If I had asked Milton to pick them up he would have either picked up every miniscule little crumb in an effort to be helpful or would have wanted more precise instructions of what I wanted.

Recently, in an attempt to prepare the kids for a new addition to the family (mostly to let them know that babies cry - a lot!), we've been playing like I am a baby and they are my parents.  It is hysterical.  When I cry Milton will say, "We just fed her.  She's fine."  But Maeva will get this look of extreme concern and rush to console me.  One time Milton was attempting to bar her way and she (who is half his size!) tackled him and rushed around him to get to that crying baby.  It helped me understand my (clearly innate) need to comfort a crying baby!

I was having trouble with my vaccuum (the belt) and it was making a terrible noise - before company was coming, of course!  Maeva was trying to help me hurry and get everything vaccuumed by moving things for me, etc., and Milton showed up with his tool box and wanted to take the vaccuum apart right then (just before company remember!) to fix the vaccuum.

Do you have any other anecdotes to add?

  1. That is too cute! And funny! I only have a boy no girl but I certainly know that he is a messer, climber, hitter, jumper, runner, NEVER stopping, and I hear that girls are a little bit more calm.
