Some people hear about my wedding and think it sounds strange, I think it sounds lovely. I was barefoot, we were in the woods surrounded by trees, and only 27 people attended. To me, that sounds absolutely perfect. I think it is interesting how weddings portray the individuals preferences and let you see some unique aspects of the couples relationship. I think that is definitely true of our wedding. I always knew I wanted a simple wedding, I wanted a low-stress wedding, I wanted an outside wedding preferably in my Mother's woods (which was exactly where it took place), I truly got the wedding of my dreams.
When Andrew first proposed, I just wanted to marry the man, I would have the day he asked, we even talked about eloping but we wanted our families to be there. The day was August 1st, it had a nice, light breeze and lots of beautiful sunshine. At 10am I walked out the door of the house I grew up in, my arm hooked through my brothers arm as he walked me down the long path to meet my waiting groom. The smile on my face may have never been matched by a bride (I am bias) but I was so happy to be getting married to him! We had a brunch for a reception (best idea ever!) Because we had such a small wedding it was really just like a family dinner. I know everyone has their own idea of what they want for their wedding and that is fine. I always dreamed of a fairy land wedding, in the woods surrounded by God's beautiful creation and surrounded by the by the family I love that was the setting I wanted to enter into the covenant of marriage.
