If money weren't an option, what service would you want to use regularly?
Esther: Massage or facials. Pedicures are nice too!
Maude: Facials
Esther: Am I allowed to say all of them? Haha!
Lizzi: That's what I'm thinking!
Esther: Not hair color though... I don't color my hair.
Lizzi: I LOVE getting my hair done, and might get it highlighted sometimes if it weren't so expensive. I also love massages, and manicure/pedicures.
Maude: Nope, Esther is not allowed to color her hair! It is just too pretty naturally to do anything to.
Lizzi: I might even do makeovers sometime! That'd be a fun experience!
Esther: I love getting my hair cut and styled.
Lizzi: That is for sure about Esther's hair! Me too, Es.
Maude: I like getting my hair lowlighted. And getting it cut is fine too. But I truly LOVE facials!
Esther: Actually, I am getting my hair cut tomorrow. I am excited.
Lizzi: Mine is on Sunday!
Esther: Maude, I have only had one facial but I am a big fan. I would love to get another one again.
Lizzi: I've never thought about facials... will have to try it sometime.
Esther: It is super relaxing and you feel so "clean" afterwards!
Maude: I have made several pacts with myself to get one once a month but I can never justify the time or money...
What services do you think are sufficient at home, or not at all?
Maude: For a true facial you need to go to a place becaue you don't have the machines at home... But of course you can still do masks and things...
Esther: I think a massage can be pretty good at home if you convince your husband to help you out
Lizzi: I also think a basic manicure/pedicure is good at home.
Esther: In all seriousness my husband gives a great massage and will do so often.
Maude: I've had my husband cut my hair (with layers!) and that was fine - although I don't do that anymore. {;0)
Lizzi: Impressive!
Esther: I agree Liz! AND you can make it extra fun but inviting some friends over and have a "spa day" and do each others nail etc.
Lizzi: True! Especially if some of those friends are extra good at it!
Maude: I just watched a movie where it showed a girl getting a pedicure and it showed them cutting the skin off around her nail - GROSS! I don't know if I want to try that!
Lizzi: Oh my, when I last got one... I felt so bad for the poor lady filing off my callouses... It WAS gross.
Maude: EWW!! Yuck!
Lizzi: But my feet felt amazing after! I just had to close my eyes to hide my embarrassment.
Maude: You were embarrassed there where no one knew you and now you announce it on a blog! You are silly, Liz!
Lizzi: That's so true... Haha!
Maude: The moms of toddlers group at church has a massage therapist in it so we will be having a Spa Day soon. It is fun to do that sort of thing with friends.
Lizzi: That will be fun, Maude! We did a similar thing last month at our MOPS! It was awesome! So, I guess we can definitely "make do" with some at home... although it is a fun treat to go out sometimes, right?
Are there any treatment/services that make you feel especially feminine when you get it done?
Maude: My hair
Esther: Manicures and pedicures make me feel especially feminine. I am not quite sure why.
Lizzi: I would have said all three of those for mine! Painted nails make me feel so feminine, but I hate that the fingers don't last more than a day or two... what a waste. :(
But it is still fun to enjoy it for that short time.
Maude: You are supposed to wear gloves and things when doing housework to help them last and put more coating stuff on them too. That is supposed to help, not that I do my fingernails. I used to do French tips but that has been years ago
Lizzi: I know those things are supposed to help, I just can't seem to do much in gloves... I can't stand to wear them. So, I just plan on it not lasting long. :)
Do you do any of these things solely because your husband likes it, or are they all simply for personal enjoyment?
Esther: That's a good questionMaude: Personal enjoyment. If my husband cares one way or another he prefers natural to anything "made-up." And so anything I do is just for me, but he is happy when I take an hour or two to spend on me.
Esther: I have just started painting my nails a lot (I am not sure why I have just started to really enjoy it) but I don't think my husband even notices when I have painted nails. Haha! I think I definitely do it for personal enjoyment. I have found that I really like to feel feminine and pretty, so most days I put on make-up and attempt to do something with my hair. (Like brush it!)
Lizzi: You know, I was thinking about this today and realized that I really don't know what my poor husband prefers. If he likes to see me made up and all, he is probably at a loss a to how to tell me that!! Ha! How do you tell a woman that you like her with hair done and make up? Tactfully?
Esther: I know, right? Men kinda have a tough place with that.
Lizzi: For sure! Poor guys!
Maude: How about "Cover up that face woman! You look like a hag!" - yes, I can see the difficulty.
Lizzi: Haha, Maude!
Lizzi: Actually, though, I know he likes my hair better naturally because he doesn't like the sticky stuff in my hair.
Esther: Yeah, my man definitely doesn't like stuff in my hair, or perfume! He HATES perfume.
Lizzi: Allergies, right, Esther?
Esther: I don't know. Just a dislike. But I don't like stuff in my hair or perfume either so it works out.
Maude: I miss being able to wear scents - perfume, lotion, etc. My husband does like that but there are no scents in this house until Maeva outgrows her eczema (which she hopefully will!)
Lizzi: That is awful!
Lizzi: I guess it comes down to.. If we are doing these things and it helps us feel pretty and feminine and attractive, that is a benefit to our husbands!
Maude: Very true.
Lizzi: So, hopefully they will read this and know that if they buy us a spa certifcate it is actually a gift to themselves, right?
Esther: That would be awesome!
Maude: Another chat to e-mail to the husbands!
Lizzi: Yes!
