Recently, we went to a Revolutionary War Re-enactment.
www.battleofthehook.org It was SO much fun!

The re-enactment was very large with over 1,000 re-enactors, 6 historically accurate boats, a field with battlements, and a cabin that was torched the last day (I was told about that but didn't see it as we went on Saturday). I have been to one Civil War re-enactment but this was my first for the Revolution. There were people from all over the world at this. Some of the re-enactors were actually from Great Britain and Germany and came across the Atlantic solely for this event.

Around lunch time as my husband and I talked about whether we should walk around a little more or find a place to sit down and eat, I looked around the war camp we were stopped near. At one tent a woman was cutting a watermelon for lunch, at another tent a woman was cutting bread for lunch, at a third tent a woman was stirring a soup for lunch. I stood in front of the stroller and handed Apple Jacks to my baby one-by-one and thought that not that much has changed for women in the last 250 years! I might be holding plastic instead of feeding a fire but I was still feeding my family on the move, thank you very much! Women have a lot in common with each other, both historically and across cultures. That's kind of cool.

I wish I had gotten better pictures but, of course, I left my real camera in the car before getting on the shuttle bus. So these are some pictures I took with my phone. I hope you enjoy!!
